Bengals bring back WR Henry

With the Bengals' receiving corps riddled with injuries, including Chad Johnson's shoulder injury during Sunday night's loss to the Lions, Cincinnati has decided to bring back WR Chris Henry, it was announced by the team Tuesday morning.
The move to bring back a player who has had a series of off-field problems and who has been suspended by the league for the first four games of the 2008 season is a mild surprise considering that head coach Marvin Lewis had repeatedly indicated this offseason he wasn't interested in bringing Henry back.
According to the team's press release, Henry has passed his physical and immediately can participate in practices. He also is eligible to play in the final two preseason games. His suspension will begin Sept. 1. He'll be eligible to resume practicing Sept. 29 and return to game action in Week Five.
It also might indicate how concerned the Bengals are about their WR corps, what with Johnson's shoulder banged up, rookie Andre Caldwell hampered by a sprained foot and T.J. Houshmandzadeh hurting with a hamstring injury.
In fact, the Bengals might not be done signing wideouts and could add another veteran receiver before the season.
Henry has been suspended by the league three times. He was cut by the Bengals on April 3 following his fifth arrest, an assault charge that later was dropped.
He was suspended for the first eight games of the ’07 season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy following two alcohol-related arrests in 2006.
