Patriots sign ex-Raiders RB Jordan

July 26, 2008
The Patriots signed RB LaMont Jordan to a one-year contract Saturday, one day after he was released by the Raiders.
Jordan rushed for 1,025 yards and had 563 receiving yards in only 14 games during 2005, his first year in Oakland after signing a five-year, $27.5 million free-agent contract.
Jordan’s production dropped off the past two seasons due to a combination of injuries and a weak offensive line. The emergence of Justin Fargas and the selection of Darren McFadden in the draft left Jordan, with his big contract, as the odd man out.
Jordan joins a Patriots RB corps composed of Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris and Kevin Faulk.
