Looking for more out of their tight ends, the Patriots cut 13-year veteran Marcus Pollard on Tuesday. Pollard, 36, was signed as a free agent from Seattle this offseason to compete with Ben Watson and David Thomas. A Colt from 1995-2004, a Lion from 2005-06 and a Seahawk last season, Pollard has amassed 349 receptions for 4,280 yards and 40 touchdowns in his career.
In his place, the Pats added rookie TE Tyson DeVree. This is the Colorado product’s second stint in New England, after signing on as a free agent on May 5, and being cut on June 11.
