Report: SS Lynch signs one-year deal with Patriots

It didn’t take long for the Patriots to be sold on SS John Lynch, and for Lynch to be sold on the Patriots. A day after meeting with the club at Gillette Stadium, the nine-time Pro Bowler inked a one-year, $1.5 million deal, the Boston Globe reports.
The 36-year-old Lynch was granted his requested release from the Broncos earlier this month after stating he wanted to play for a championship contender. In the wake of SS Tank Williams season-ending knee injury last week, the Pats were happy to afford Lynch that opportunity.
Although he’ll play more of a sub-package role as a hybrid safety-linebacker, Lynch’s signature gives the Patriots two of the more accomplished safeties in NFL history. Rodney Harrison, the only defensive back to record at least 30 sacks and 30 interceptions, is a Hall of Fame candidate, just as Lynch is.
