Random quotes from around the league

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, delighted to have WR Randy Moss back in New England after he signed a three-year deal with the club Monday, as quoted in The Buffalo News: “What Randy did for our team last year was outstanding. He is one of our most consistent, competitive and team-oriented players and it is undoubtedly a relationship we are excited to continue.”

Giants GM Jerry Reese, quoted on Courant.com after signing S Sammy Knight to a three-year deal Monday: "We were attracted to how smart he plays and how productive and physical he plays. We think he will thrive in our defensive schemes. He brings a lot of leadership to the team, especially to the secondary, and he is a real pro."

Free-agent WR Bryant Johnson, confident that he can fill the void of a big WR in Buffalo if inked to a deal by the Bills, as quoted in the Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle: "I definitely think I fit in good with the Bills. Hopefully I won't have to take any more visits after I leave here. My agent is going to talk with them (the Bills) and hopefully we can work something out and make both of us happy. … I'm definitely eager to get more opportunities to show my ability and I definitely think this is a good place to do so.”

Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, quoted on NJ.com regarding his excitement after signing CB Asante Samuel: "This is an aggressive offseason for us. I think what you are seeing is a team taking a step forward with a great addition to our defensive secondary; a guy that has definitely established himself as one of the top players at his position over the last couple of years. We're excited to have him, his cover skills and his leadership on the defensive side."
