Tony Zendejas, who spent 11 seasons in the NFL kicking for four different teams, has been charged with drugging and raping a woman who was a customer in his Pomona, Calif. sports bar last January.
Zendejas was arrested on felony warrants at his Yorba Linda home early Thursday and then jailed. Bail was set at $260,000.
He has been charged with four counts, which are: rape by use of drugs, rape of an unconscious person, sodomy by anesthesia or controlled substance and sodomy of an unconscious victim.
According to the Web site TMZ.com, Zendejas gave the victim a drink, which made her feel groggy. She later woke up at a motel down the street from Zendejas' establishment and called police to report that she had been raped. There was no reason cited for the delay between the time of the incident in January and Zendejas' arrest in July.
Zendejas played for the Houston Oilers from 1985 through 1990. He kicked for the Los Angeles Rams from 1991-94, connecting on a perfect 17-of-17 FG attempts in ’91. He closed out his pro career in ’95, when he played for Falcons and 49ers.
