My lock has little to do with the 49ers trying to revenge a crushing loss to the Seahawks in OT in San Francisco a number of weeks past, and a little more to do with the huge loss of Chris Carson for the 'Hawks and what I find the bizarre hope that the "Beast Mode" — whom the Seahawks gave up on a few years ago — is now going to come off the couch after a year and a half ago and save the day. But mainly it's because I can't remember a situation where on top of all that, and with the fact added in that the Niners are the better all around team, I can't ever remember a team playing on the last day of the season knowing that a win will lock up the number one seed in the playoffs and a loss will drop it to number five. The ramifications of that are multiple and really serious. Get yourself to the $2 window and keep punching 49ers until the tickets run out.

Win one for Freddie! No idea if this is an actual rallying cry in the Browns locker room, and my hunch says it's not, but Cleveland has played well occasionally with the pressure entirely off this season, which is certainly the case Sunday. Of course, as I'm writing this I'm realizing the Bengals are already on the clock and just might conjure up some more fight on the heels of last week's overtime barnburner in Miami (seriously). Nonetheless, though talent wasn't enough for the entirey of yet another losing season in Cleveland, it figures to be against the worst team in football.
