Zach Ertz has at least one 15-, 14-, 13-, 11- and 10-catch game on his sterling NFL resume.

Random stat, you say? Well, no. Ertz has never caught 12 balls in a single game, but that's the number he needs to tie pal Jason Witten's single-season record (110) for the position. Yes, Ertz has three games left to play, but as Carson Wentz's back injury reminds us, there's no time like the present.

Could Ertz, then, reach or eclipse Witten's record Sunday in L.A.? Presumptive starter Nick Foles has targeted the Eagles' stud tight end an average of 9.7 times in his second stint with the club. And the Rams have permitted 63 combined catches to the position, which is in the upper one-third of the league.

Whether Ertz catches Witten remains to be seen, as does finding an answer as to whether promising rookie Dallas Goedert ever catches his teammate. But what should be impossibly clear but apparently isn't based on the silliness of some disappointed Eagles fans on Twitter is that Ertz is a blue-chipper and difference maker of the highest order.

We understand Philadelphia's Super Bowl LII defense season hasn't gone according to plan, but we can't figure out for the life of us how anyone could think it's Ertz's fault. He might be hard-pressed to make history Sunday, one week after he was kept in check by a second consecutive conference heavyweight.

But with the Eagles hosting Houston and finishing the regular season in Washington, an injury notwithstanding, fantasy's TE3 overall should fly into the record books soon, if not Sunday.
