Barring injury, we clearly can foresee only two weeks this season when Todd Gurley isn't RB1 — Week 12, the Rams' bye, and Sunday, the convergence of his tough matchup with Seattle and Kareem Hunt's Chiefs (-17 ) hosting the Arizona Cardinals (No. 31 against opposing fantasy backs).

Indeed, Sunday is a perfect storm for Hunt, who has had almost ideal conditions in recent weeks, when the Chiefs played Cleveland (No. 30 in Football Outsiders' run 'D' DVOA), Denver (No. 21) and Cincinnati (No. 27). But it's worth noting Hunt's beastly four-game stretch, in which he's outpaced Gurley, believe it or not, began against the Patriots, No. 8 per FO. (To wit: two of Hunt's best three yardage games have come against New England.)

We already told you how poorly Arizona has defended opposing fantasy backs, against whom they've ceded a whopping 31.2-point average. But what about poor Hunt? He's been forced in his sophomore season to oppose Gurley for top fantasy RB honors and his own teammate, Patrick Mahomes, for some of the spotlight that's shined constantly on the first-place Chiefs, who currently are No. 1 in the NFL in scoring and total offense.

Hunt will get his this week, though, and don't rule out David Johnson's blow-up game finally arriving, too. The only 'D' worse than Arizona against fantasy backs? Kansas City, of course. And after DJ's usage predictably spiked in Game 1 under interim coordinator Byron Leftwich — he ran a season-high 30 routes run, per Evan Silva — he's waaaay up our rankings at RB5.
