The Panthers released CB Chris Gamble on Friday. Gamble is the franchise’s all-time leader in interceptions.
"I appreciate the contributions of Chris during my first two years as head coach and to the organization for many years," head coach Ron Rivera said. "He always handled things the right way and we wish him the best."
Gamble has spent all nine of his NFL seasons in Carolina, recording 80 passes defensed and 27 interceptions. He started the first four games of 2012 before being placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
The move saves Carolina $7.9 million in cash and cap savings.
