The Chargers announced the release of LB Takeo Spikes on Thursday.
“Takeo is a true professional and a class act,” said GM Tom Telesco. “We’re grateful for his many contributions to the Chargers organization, both on and off the field, and wish him nothing but the best in the future.”
Spikes has played in 15 NFL seasons with five different teams. In his two seasons with the Chargers, he started every game and recorded 184 tackles, 1½ sacks, four passes defensed and one forced fumble.
In his 15 seasons, Spikes has played in 219 games and has 29 sacks, 49 passes defensed, 19 interceptions and 11 forced fumbles. Spikes has never played in a postseason game.
The move cleared $3 million of cap space for the Chargers.
