NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL has fined Patriots QB Tom Brady $10,000 for an "aggressive slide" in Sunday's AFC championship game against the Ravens.

The fine was announced on NFL.com.

On a first-and-goal near the end of the second quarter, Brady was forced out of the pocket to his left. He ran for three yards but slid before he could be tackled. In the process, he raised his right leg and kicked defender Ed Reed in the thigh.

Brady reportedly apologized to Reed in a text message.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James says he has no information on the fine.

A message was left seeking comment from a league spokesman.

The Ravens won 28-13 to advance to the Super Bowl.
