The Bears added to their new coaching staff on Friday, hiring Mel Tucker as defensive coordinator, the team confirmed.
Tucker just finished his fourth season as the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator. He was also the team’s assistant head coach last season and interviewed for Jacksonville’s head-coaching job, which went to Gus Bradley.
Prior to joining the Jaguars, Tucker spent four seasons with the Browns — three as defensive backs coach and one as defensive coordinator.
Tucker joins Marc Trestman’s staff in Chicago. Last year’s Bears defensive coordinator, Rod Marinelli, reportedly met with the Cowboys on Friday to join Monte Kiffin’s defensive staff.
