The Colts and Chargers made a trade, of sorts.
Jimmy Raye is leaving San Diego to be the Colts’ vice president of football operations, Sports Illustrated’s Jim Trotter first reported.
Raye will take the position formerly held by Tom Telesco, the Chargers’ new general manager.
Early on, Raye was considered a front-runner to replace A.J. Smith, but the Spanos family hired Telesco last week. Telesco spent the previous 13 seasons with the Colts, including 2012 as the VP of football operations. He told reporters that he hoped Raye would stay with the Chargers.
Raye originally joined the Chargers in 1996 as a scout.
