The Patriots are bringing former assistant Brian Daboll back to the staff, effective immediately, Bill Belichick told reporters during a conference call Monday.
Daboll spent the 2012 season as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator. He was with New England from 2000-06 before going to the Jets with Eric Mangini. He was the Browns’ offensive coordinator from 2009-10 and then the Dolphins’ offensive coordinator in 2011.
From 2002-06, Daboll was the Patriots’ wide receivers coach. Last year, the Patriots brought Josh McDaniels in during the playoffs, and he eventually took over as offensive coordinator after Bill O’Brien left for Penn State.
The Patriots beat the Texans 41-28 on Sunday and will host the Ravens in the AFC title game. Daboll faced the Ravens with the Chiefs earlier this season in a 9-6 loss.
