Following his Thursday morning arrest, RB Chris Rainey was waived by the Steelers.

Rainey was arrested and charged with one count of simple battery (dating violence) in Gainesville, Fla. He allegedly slapped his girlfriend following an argument over Rainey's cell phone.

“Chris Rainey’s actions this morning were extremely disappointing,” Steelers GM Kevin Colbert said. “Under the circumstances and due to this conduct, Chris will no longer be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

Rainey appeared in all 16 games as a rookie and rushed the ball 26 times for 102 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 14 catches for 60 yards.
