Vikings DE Jared Allen will have surgery this offseason to repair a torn labrum, according to Judd Zulgad of 1500ESPN.com in Minnesota.
Allen appeared on the injury report with a shoulder prior to the Vikings’ Nov. 9 game. He said that he did not know when he tore the labrum.
“It’s not good. My inside game wasn’t as good as I would have liked for it to have been just because I really didn’t have as much power in my hump,” Allen said when asked how painful the injury was following Saturday night’s playoff loss to the Packers. “But you fight through it and you’re never fully healthy. I’ll get it cleaned up.”
Allen has started every game in his five seasons with Minnesota. He had 12 sacks in 2012.
