Browns QB Thaddeus Lewis will make his first appearance in an NFL regular-season game on Sunday, and it will be in a starting role vs. the Steelers.

Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy were both ruled out with shoulder injuries, head coach Pat Shurmur said Friday. Lewis, who was promoted to the active roster earlier in the week from the practice squad, will start.

Lewis is a second-year pro who has been with the Browns the past two seasons. He spent time with the Rams in 2010.

The Browns signed free-agent QB Josh Johnson this week, who will be Lewis’ backup.

Shurmur also said RB Trent Richardson (ankle) will not play in the season finale. Montario Hardesty is expected to start.
