The Saints announced Saturday that RB Chris Ivory, who had not been mentioned on this week’s injury report, has suffered a hamstring injury and is now considered doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Giants.

After not playing in any of the first seven games and being inactive for five of them, Ivory has emerged as the Saints’ most effective running back, averaging a team-best 5.4 yards per carry. He ran for 34 yards on eight carries in the Week 12 loss to the Niners and gained only four yards on three carries in the Week 13 loss to the division-rival Falcons.

In his absence, the Saints will likely count on the threesome of Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles and Mark Ingram to divide the carries against the Giants.
