The Vikings placed WR Percy Harvin on injured reserve Wednesday. Harvin has not played since Week Nine because of an ankle injury.
Prior to his injury, Harvin was having a very productive season. He will finish the 2012 campaign with 62 catches for 677 yards and three touchdowns and 22 carries for 96 yards with a rushing score.
Harvin also returned a kickoff 105 yards for a touchdown and was averaging 35.9 yards per return.
The Vikings are thin at receiver. Harvin's 62 catches are more than double the second-leading wide receiver in receptions, Michael Jenkins, who has 30 catches. Kyle Rudolph, Jenkins, Jerome Simpson and Jarius Wright make up the team's top pass catchers.
Earlier on Wednesday, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier was asked if Harvin’s season was over. Frazier said it’s “hard to say.” Harvin sprained his left ankle against the Seahawks on Nov. 4.
