NFL suspends Seahawks CB Browner four games

The NFL announced that Seahawks CB Brandon Browner has been suspended for four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Browner's suspension begins immediately. He will be eligible to return to the active roster on Monday, Dec. 31 following Seattle's final regular-season game on Dec. 30 against the Rams. Browner can play in all playoff games.

It previously had been reported that Browner and teammate CB Richard Sherman were facing four-game suspensions. Sherman has an appeal hearing that reportedly will take place on Dec. 14. Both cornerbacks tested positive for the drug Adderall, according to multiple reports.

In 12 games this season, all starts, Browner has 44 tackles, six passes defensed, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. The Seahawks' top reserve corners are Marcus Trufant and Walter Thurmond.

Seattle did sign CB Ron Parker off the Panthers' practice squad and promoted CB DeShawn Shead from its practice squad.
