With three quarters of his first regular season behind him, Bears DE Shea McClellin’s rookie experience is almost behind him. Unfortunately, McClellin's experience included the concussion he suffered last month.
“It’s definitely hard,” he told PFW Sunday. “You’re in your first year and you get an injury. That can hurt your development. … After the injury you just have to come back stronger and work to get better.”
McClellin, Chicago’s first-round pick (19th overall) this year, has played 27 snaps in each of the past two games after missing Week 11 while he recovered from the concussion he suffered vs. the Texans in Week 10.
“Last week I was a little rusty to begin with because I was getting back and getting the hang of things, but I feel fine now,” he said.
McClellin has served mostly as a pass-rush specialist in sub packages this season and has recorded three sacks in 11 games. We asked McClellin how he would rate his performance thus far.
“It’s hard to rate it right now,” he said. “That was my goal this year, just to get better every week. That’s what I’m trying to do.”
