The 49ers announced Tuesday that they signed LB NaVorro Bowman to a five-year extension through 2018.
Bowman, a third-year pro, has started all 27 games over the last two seasons. In 2011, he had 143 tackles, two sacks and eight passes defensed.
In 11 games this season, Bowman has 100 tackles, two sacks, five passes defensed and one interception. Bowman was named a first-team All-Pro by The Associated Press last season.
The 49ers now have their standout pair of starting inside linebackers signed for the next four seasons, as Patrick Willis is signed through 2016.
“NaVorro epitomizes what we look for in a 49er,” said 49ers GM Trent Baalke. “We are excited that the All-Pro tandem of Willis and Bowman will be together in red and gold for years to come.”
