Steelers QB Byron Leftwich fractured two ribs in Sunday night’s loss to the Ravens and is unlikely to start in Week 12, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
Per the report, Leftwich fractured the ribs early in the game. He later hurt his shoulder, but the rib injuries are more serious. Leftwich completed 18-of-39 passes for 201 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.
Leftwich played for Ben Roethlisberger, who suffered a rare rib injury last week. The team’s No. 3 QB is Charlie Batch, who turns 38 in December. Batch started one game last season and two in 2011.
CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported earlier in the day that the Steelers are looking at bringing in quarterbacks. Veteran David Garrard was cleared to start working out for teams last week, and could be an option. The Steelers play the Browns in Cleveland in Week 12.
