The Bears brought back QB Josh McCown on Tuesday and waived TE Brody Eldridge.

McCown played in three games with two starts for the Bears last season. He completed 35-of-55 passes for 414 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.

The 10-year veteran has started 33 games in his career for the Cardinals and Raiders. He has also spent time with Detroit and Carolina.

McCown brings insurance at quarterback, as the Bears may be without starter Jay Cutler, who suffered a concussion in Sunday night’s loss to the Texans. Chicago travels to San Francisco to play the 49ers on Monday night in Week 11.

Eldridge has not played in a game this season. He played in 13 with eight starts for the Colts in 2011.
