Bears 'properly handled' Cutler's concussion

The NFL said that the Bears "properly handled" QB Jay Cutler’s concussion in Sunday night’s loss to the Texans.

“Our office reviewed it with the (Bears’) medical staff and it was properly handled. The team followed the correct protocol,” spokesman Greg Aiello told Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Cutler took a hit to the head from Texans ILB Tim Dobbins late in the first half. He remained in the game for seven plays and was diagnosed with a concussion at halftime. Head coach Lovie Smith reiterated on Monday that Cutler's symptoms were not displayed immediately.

Jason Campbell replaced Cutler in the 13-6 loss.
