The Raiders have activated CB Ron Bartell from the injured reserve/designated for return list and cut CB Pat Lee, who has started the last seven games. Bartell, who previously spent seven seasons with the Rams, is apparently ready to return to action after breaking his shoulder blade in Oakland’s season-opening loss to the Chargers.
By all accounts, Lee had not played that badly. But Oakland’s pass defense has struggled much of the season, ranking both 21st in passing yards allowed and average gain per pass play and 26th in interception percentage.
Bartell is considered a quality starter when healthy, but he has been limited by injuries in recent years.
The Raiders also announced Saturday that it had promoted RB Jimmy Stewart off the practice squad with both RBs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson ruled out of Oakland's game Sunday in Baltimore with ankle injuries. To make room for Stewart, the team placed former 49ers CB Shawntae Spencer on non-revocable injured reserve.
