The Eagles placed starting ORT Todd Herremans on injured reserve. Herremans injured his ankle in Monday night’s loss to the Saints.

To take Herremans spot on the roster, the Eagles promoted OG Julian Vandervelde from the practice squad.

Herremans, who protects the blind side of left-handed QB Michael Vick, had started every game this season, and 100 of his 103 career games since 2005. He has not missed a game since 2009.

Former Bills OT Demetress Bell replaced Herremans at right tackle in the game.

The way we see it

This is the third starting offensive lineman the Eagles have lost this season, and it just so happens to have been their three best. Herremans’ play might have appeared to slip in recent games, but it’s because (in part) of him trying to hold the whole thing together. With him out, it could be major chaos.

At this point, play-calling is going to have to compensate for the losses; expecting Demetress Bell and King Dunlap to hold up outside with a patchwork interior and no great blocking backs or tight ends, it’s just not going to work in the passing game. Michael Vick only can flee so long. The Eagles must run the ball better — and more often — to have a chance.
