The Cardinals placed LB O’Brien Schofield on injured reserve with an ankle injury and re-signed DE Ronald Talley to replace Schofield on the 53-man roster.

Schofield got tangled up with teammate Darnell Dockett in the second half of the Cardinals’ loss to the Packers on Sunday and suffered a left ankle injury.

The third-year pro has started all nine games this season and has 34 tackles and four sacks. Ex-Raider Quentin Groves replaced Schofield and likely will start in Schofield's place going forward.

Talley, a 6-3, 286-pound second-year pro, played in six games last season for the Cardinals and spent the preseason with the team until he was released in the final roster cut on Aug. 31.

The way we see it

In his first season as a starter, the injury-prone Schofield was playing well. He had four sacks and was much more in tune with Ray Horton’s system than he was last season. He is expected to be replaced by Groves, who has actually performed quite well in a reserve role and on special teams. Groves did not have a good game at all against the Packers, however, getting called for a couple of costly penalties, and will have to show big improvement moving forward.
