The Steelers released S Damon Cromartie-Smith on Wednesday to make room for NT Alameda Ta'amu, who re-joined the active roster.
Ta'amu served a two-game suspension, handed down by the Steelers, after being arrested and charged with DUI.
Cromartie-Smith spent the first seven weeks of the season on the Steelers' practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster last week.
