Broncos MLB Joe Mays is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a lower leg injury in Sunday night’s win.
According to Mike Klis of The Denver Post, Mays fractured the fibula near his ankle when blocking on a punt return in the fourth quarter.
Mays, who signed an extension with Denver in March, started four games in the first five weeks — he missed one game with a suspension. After Week Five, however, he lost his starting job to MLB Keith Brooking.
On the season, Mays has 20 tackles and half a sack. He has been a special-teams contributor in the last two games. In 2011, Mays played in every game with 12 starts and made 75 tackles and two passes defensed.
