Panthers DT Dwan Edwards was not interested in searching for silver linings when PFW caught up with him after Carolina’s latest loss, which was the club’s fifth in a row and sixth in seven games this season.

“There’s nothing encouraging,” Edwards said “We’ve lost too many games like this.”

Carolina’s defense kept the Bears’ offense in check for the vast majority of the teams’ Week Eight meeting, but Chicago rallied late, scoring 17 points — including a defensive touchdown — in the final 6:52 of the game in its 23-22 win.

The collapse was right in line with the way the Panthers' season has gone.

“We just want to win,” said Edwards, whose status for Week Nine is uncertain after he suffered an ankle injury during Sunday’s game. “I don’t think there’s anybody that’s trying to quit. Obviously, we’re mad. I’m frustrated. No one likes to lose. We put too much work in. We’ll stay together. Defensively, we are going to find a way to get better and improve. I thought we had a pretty good showing today. Obviously, we’ve got to make a few more plays.

“It’s a team game. It’s tough to point your finger at one thing. I’d just say, from a defensive standpoint, we’ve got to find a way. I don’t know what it is. I can’t point at one position group or anything. One of us has to make another play.”
