Bills DE Mario Williams is contemplating having surgery on his wrist during the team’s bye, according to Tim Graham of The Buffalo News.
Williams signed a six-year contract with the Bills in March worth as much as $100 million. In seven games this season, he has 3½ sacks.
Since Week One, Williams has mentioned the injury to his left wrist as something that has hampered his play and a reason his production is not matching expectations. The Bills had not listed it on the injury report at first because he didn’t miss practice time, but they were fined $20,000 for violating the league’s policy on reporting injuries.
When talking to reporters on Monday, Chan Gailey was asked if he knows how much the wrist is bothering Williams.
“No I do not. I cannot speak for him. I cannot tell you whether he is being affected by it at all, a little bit or what it is. I cannot tell,” Gailey said.
Gailey is scheduled to address the media on Wednesday.
