The Redskins brought back veteran TE Chris Cooley on Monday after Fred Davis suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on Sunday.
Cooley had eight catches for 65 yards in five starts last season. In his eight seasons with the Redskins, Cooley has 328 career catches and 33 touchdowns. He was released prior to the start of the season.
“I am very excited to be a part of this team. It’s been unreal to watch them come together as an offense, and it’s going to be fun,” Cooley told reporters. “I feel very fortunate I didn’t go somewhere else, because this is the opportunity I always wanted. I’d be kicking myself.”
Cooley joins Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen as the Redskins’ tight ends.
