Brady Quinn will be the Chiefs’ starting quarterback in Week Eight, head coach Romeo Crennel said Monday.
“Probably the most impactful move I could make to get everybody’s attention was to change the quarterback,” Crennel told reporters, according to The Kansas City Star.
In his five starts, Cassel had thrown five touchdowns and nine interceptions and completed 58.5 percent of his throws. Cassel left in Week Five after sustaining a concussion.
"I am not saying Matt Cassel is the reason we are where we are, because the stroke of that brush is a broad stroke and everybody is included in it,” Crennel added.
Quinn started for the injured Cassel in Week Six and completed 22-of-38 passes for 180 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions against the Buccaneers. The 1-5 Chiefs were on bye in Week Seven and face the Raiders in Week Eight.
