The Bears released former first-round OT Chris Williams and brought back CB Zackary Bowman.
Williams, the 14th overall pick in the 2008 draft, had been inactive the last two games. He played in the team’s first three games, but did not start.
Last season, Williams started all nine games he played. In his time with the Bears, Williams appeared in 50 games with 38 starts. Veteran Jonathan Scott has been the backup swing tackle behind J’Marcus Webb and Gabe Carimi.
Bowman, who signed a one-year deal, was with the Bears from 2008-11. He played in all 16 games last year with one start and made 15 tackles. In ’09, Bowman had six interceptions and 66 tackles while starting 12 games.
