The Steelers released TE Weslye Saunders, the team announced Friday.

A second-year pro out of South Carolina, Saunders had four catches and one touchdown last season. He was suspended for the first four games of this season for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Saunders was on a roster exemption, though he came off it on Friday.
