QB Robert Griffin III has passed all his post-concussion tests and apparently is all systems go for Sunday’s game against the Vikings. The Redskins lightened his load slightly in practice leading up to the game but otherwise will not change their approach to handling him.
Griffin has taken some big hits so far this season, rushing 42 times — and sliding or running out of bounds on very few of them — along with 11 sacks and countless hits incurred in the pocket. Despite this, Griffin says he will continue to play the way he knows how and the Redskins say they don’t want the hits he has taken to change the way they call games.
“If I went into a game thinking I had to call a different game because if he got hit he’s going to be hurt, then he shouldn’t be playing,” offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said. “Robert’s a smart guy. I don’t think he would do something stupid like that, act like he’s not OK just to get back out there. I feel confident if Robert’s playing Sunday he’s good to go and I’ll call a normal game.”
