The Texans signed LB Barrett Ruud and released KR Trindon Holliday on Wednesday. They placed LB Brian Cushing on injured reserve.
Ruud, an eighth-year veteran, played in three games this season with the Saints before being released. Last season, he started all nine games he played for Tennessee and made 57 tackles and three passes defensed.
From 2005-10, Ruud played for the Bucs, missing only one game in those six seasons. He has 642 career tackles and seven interceptions.
Holliday had 10 kickoff returns for 194 yards and 16 punt returns for 147 yards this season. He had two punt-return touchdowns in the preseason.
Cushing tore his ACL in Monday night’s win over the Jets.
