Panthers C Ryan Kalil will miss the rest of the 2012 season with a foot injury. The team placed Kalil on injured reserve after head coach Ron Rivera told reporters the injury was "not looking good right now."
Kalil suffered a Lisfranc injury in last Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks, and Rivera said it is worse than the team originally thought. The Lisfranc injury is what Jets WR Santonio Holmes suffered two weeks back and Texans QB Matt Schaub last season.
Kalil, a Pro Bowler, has not missed a start since 2008. He has 68 career starts and has appeared in 68 games in his six seasons. Rivera said that OG Geoff Hangartner will move to center and Jeff Byers and Garry Williams will compete for the guard spot, according to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.
