How good is Bengals WR A.J. Green? One veteran evaluator, speaking on condition of anonymity, opined that Green is playing so well that double-covering him “may not be enough” to stop him. The evaluator, who has watched Green this season, said only the Lions’ Calvin Johnson is better at his position right now. “He is a special, special player,” the evaluator said of Green. Green, named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September, has been on a tear to begin the season, and he’s on pace to significantly improve upon his rookie production (65 catches, 1,057 yards, seven TDs). Green’s stellar production is of no surprise to the Bengals, the way we hear it; in short, he has been everything they thought he would be in less than 1½ seasons of simply spectacular football for Cincinnati. Moreover, the Bengals have gotten solid play from their other pass catchers, with TE Jermaine Gresham and WRs Andrew Hawkins and Armon Binns all producing. With QB Andy Dalton starting his second NFL season in fine fashion, too, the result has been a potent Bengals passing game.
