Jets WR Santonio Holmes has a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, Yahoo’s Jason Cole first reported.
The injury is expected to keep Holmes out for the remainder of the season. Dr. Robert Anderson saw Holmes’ MRI results and he may see Holmes in-person for a second opinion, according to Cole.
Holmes suffered the injury after making a catch in Sunday’s loss to the 49ers. He went down with what first appeared to be a knee injury. The Jets later announced that Holmes injured his foot.
In four games this season, Holmes has 20 catches for 272 yards and a touchdown. He had 654 yards receiving and eight scores last season.
The way we see it
All indications pointed to Holmes’ injury being a season-ending one, and this is brutal for a reeling Jets squad that will already be without CB Darrelle Revis for the season with an ACL injury. Young WRs Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley will need to step up, as well as Chaz Schilens.
While Holmes may have made more headlines off the field and has been a distraction, he is the Jets’ best offensive playmaker, and the offense has been one of the league’s worst since Week One.
