Broncos C J.D. Walton suffered a broken ankle in Sunday’s win over the Raiders and will miss the rest of the season.
Walton’s injury came in the first half and veteran C Dan Koppen replaced him.
"I'm absolutely sick about J.D. Walton and his potential injury," Peyton Manning said after the game. "I haven't heard the official (prognosis) but it sure didn't look good out there. I know how hard he has worked. My heart goes out to him."
Denver signed Koppen following Week One. Koppen has started 120 career games, spending the last nine seasons with the Patriots, next week’s opponent for Denver.
Walton has started all 36 games he has played for Denver since entering the league in 2010.
The Broncos announced that Walton was placed on injured reserve and that they waived LB Mike Mohamed. LB Joe Mays was added to the active roster from the reserve/suspended list and TE Virgil Green's suspension was lifted.
