President Barack Obama chimed in on the current referee lockout, forcing replacement referees to call games.

“NFL fans on both sides of the aisle hope the refs’ lockout is settled soon,” President Obama tweeted.

The referees have been locked out since June and the two sides reportedly resumed talks over the weekend. Replacement officials are under major scrutiny on Tuesday after the controversial finish to Monday night's Seahawks-Packers game.

In March, 2011, President Obama weighed in on the NFL labor issues: “I’m a big football fan, but I also think that for an industry that’s making $9 billion in revenue, they can figure out how to divide it up in a sensible way. And be true to their fans, who are the ones who, obviously, allow for all the money that they’re making. So my expectation and hope is that they’ll resolve it without me intervening, because it turns out I’ve got a lot of other stuff to do.”
