The Colts signed CB Darius Butler on Tuesday, the club announced. 

In a corresponding roster move, the club also announced it had released OG Trai Essex. 

Butler, 26, has made 14 career starts and has played for New England (2009-10) and Carolina (2011). 

Essex appeared in two games as a reserve for the Colts.
