Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan told reporters Wednesday that defensive coordinator Jim Haslett was among his assistants who received contract extensions this past offseason.
Haslett has been with the Redskins since 2010 and his defense ranked 13th in the league last season. He was the Saints’ head coach from 2000-05. Haslett’s contract reportedly was set to be up at the end of this season.
Special-teams coordinator Danny Smith also received an extension.
“If I didn’t feel very good about Jim and I didn’t feel very good about Danny, I wouldn’t have extended them,” Shanahan said, according to The Washington Post.
