Falcons RB Michael Turner was arrested on DUI and speeding charges on Tuesday morning.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Associated Press reported Turner was released on bond from the Gwinnett (Ga.) County Jail around 7 a.m. EST on Tuesday morning. Turner was clocked going 97 miles per hour, which was 32 miles per hour over the speed limit. In a news release, Cpl. Edwin Ritter, a police spokesman, said an officer "could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver and proceeded to conduct a DUI investigation."
After a field sobriety test, Turner was arrested.
The Falcons released a statement about Turner's arrest on Tuesday morning: “We are aware of the situation involving Michael and are in the process of gathering more information. Because this is now a legal matter, the club will have no further comment at this time.”
Turner, 30, rushed for 42 yards and a TD on 17 carries in Atlanta's 27-21 home win vs. Denver on Monday night.
