LOCK OF THE WEEK

Which of your picks do you feel strongest about and why?

Hub Arkush: 49ers appear to be the best team in the NFL right now, and Vikings are one of the worst. No matter how heroic A.P. wants to be or can be, nobody runs on the 49ers.

Keith Schleiden: The 0-2 Raiders appear to be a mess at the moment, and after pummeling the Jets in Week Two, I look for Mike Tomlin and crew to take advantage of it to the fullest.

Mike Holbrook: Adrian Peterson isn’t himself and Christian Ponder hasn’t seen anything like the 49ers’ defense. Plus, the Vikes won’t be able to stop the Niners on offense.

Dan Arkush: Something tells me Randy Moss could have a big game vs. his old team as the heavyweight Niners put a solid licking on the lightweight Vikings.

Eric Edholm: The Colts are the second-best team in the AFC South, and though there are clear weaknesses, Andrew Luck gives them a chance. The Jaguars are hurting.

Mike Wilkening: I liked what I saw from the Browns in Week Two, but they are banged-up on defense, and the Bills have a solid offense. Buffalo could be a little too tough.

Dan Parr: The West Coast trip can be a trap game, but I think the Steelers will be able to avoid it against the Raiders, who are really struggling out of the gate.

Kevin Fishbain: The Titans’ offense has looked terrible early on and facing a tough Lions D-line is not a good way to stop the skid. Stafford should be able to throw with ease.

Arthur Arkush: The more Alex Smith’s confidence grows, the more dangerous this Niners team becomes. Christian Ponder is due for a clunker against the Niners’ dominant “D.”
