According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, a source who talked with Matt Forté said that the Bears' starting running back suffered a high right ankle sprain Thursday night. There is no timetable set for his return.
Forté, who had 31 rushing yards on seven carries and 49 receiving yards on four catches before exiting the 23-10 loss to the Packers midway through the third quarter, missed the last four games of last season with a knee sprain. He signed a four-year, $30.4 million contract in July after having had the franchise tag applied to him.
If Forté is out for any length of time, backup RB Michael Bush, who rushed 14 times for 54 yards against the Packers after rushing for 42 yards and two touchdowns in Week One, would be the starter.
