Free-agent WR Chad Johnson was formally charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery, according to reports.
The charge was filed Wednesday by the Broward County State Attorney in Florida and the six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver faces up to one year in jail if convicted.
Johnson is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday and is expected to file a written plea of not guilty, according to the Associated Press. He was released by the Dolphins last month one day after being arrested on a domestic violence charge stemming from an incident in which Johnson was accused of head-butting his wife, Evelyn Lozada, during an argument. Lozada later filed for divorce.
